We eat our secrets. It was lines like that that had me undone as I read this. In hindsight I think I had some issues with the novel but I think it did more to read it than to tear it apart. Not an easy read for me.
This book was painful. Reading it felt like picking at a scab. Astrid's story helped me to understand things that growing up in a secure home I never understood. I showed me a world I never really looked at or thought about too much. I'll never forget this one... Did not like the movie at all!
GE stock paid for much of my college education, so I owe Jack a nod of appreciation for building such a powerhouse corporation that was able to keep stock values growing when other companies were struggling. The book provides a nice overview of the history of GE under Jack Welch, including the policies and deals he set up. While it does touch on policy specifics, it's much more of a memoir than a how-to manual. Interesting read, but if I didn't have a history with GE, I probably wouldn't have made it all the way through. I did enjoy his frequent discussions of golf. He is one hell of a golfer.
Well its no Twilight but its good Do NOT let your kids read it - turns out its very adult and I had to take it away from the teenager - but I think I was to late :(
