Engaging at first, but I quickly tired of it. Put it down about halfway through and never finished.
"The Cloister Walk" is a beautiful, illuminated view of a church year at a Benedictine Abbey through the eyes of Kathleen Norris, a Protestant poet and lay minister. Written during her tenure as an oblate, this book grounds the mysticism of monastic life in a Roman Catholic abbey in common sense and accessible.
This is a rough book. If you can't handle reading about brutality to women, don't venture any further. It was pretty amazing, though. 2 perspectives on rape--I don't know that you can judge either girl's reaction unless you have experienced this horror.
