Probably one of my all-time favorite books. I'd read it when I was a kid and adored it. The book (not the one pictured) had a non-descrepit cover but the inside.....beautiful brown ink....gorgeous. I lusted after the book itself for a long time. It was a library copy. I couldn't bring myself to just take it. I don't know why. Eventually I found it on eBay and bought a copy for myself. It's gorgeous. More importantly, though, is the story inside. Michael Ende is the guy who wrote "The Neverending Story"....one of my favorite movies. I couldn't resist. "Momo" is such a beautiful story about using your imagination, the importance of friendship, staying a kid as long as you can, fighthing the time sucking horribleness that is adulthood, and always remembering to enjoy yourself, just a little.
Food and Fumi Yoshinaga... it works. Simply as that. You will know her from her other comic Antique bakery, also have been translated to english which is a borderline yaoi comic. This comic is more a travel food guide in Tokyo, featuring foods from several restaurants even a bakery (complete with their address). Can't wait to try the places she recommended. like most of her work, it is well drawn, clean panels, and some laugh here and there. If you are a foodie and want a light reading to wet your appetite this is the comic for you. Happy Reading
Omg, my second romance, I may be hooked. This one was much better than Searching for a Hero. I loved the Alaskan setting, the strong female protagonist. Of course, the 'romance' aspect was totally unrealistic, but it is a fun fantasy offering humor and moments of OMG.
