We read this book for our book club--I know so many people loved it but I just couldn't stand it. I thought it was precocious and over-constructed. Its a memoir about growing up with a larger than life childhood--and while I generally really enjoy these books, I thought this one was just too contrived and the characters, for all their eccentricities, were too one-dimensional.
