This is an amazing book! I've also read the two that follow it-rumors and envy- and they are just as good.
A stark reminder about why abortion needs to remain legal and accesible for women in this country. Ernaux writes with brutal truth about her experiences as a young student in France-1960's-who goes through a desperate search to end her pregnancy. This borders on meta-fiction, a style that I enjoy.
Can't say enough about this book...I've read and re-read it so many times, especially for the second half. I was born in 1980, but this book made me feel like I lived the Vietnam War era with him.Uncle Stevie at his finest.
I love reading books about a persons life. This is a funny book, its a sad book, and it is a book that has taught me a little about life. all this from a graphic novel? :) yes, i loved it, the pictures just made it all that better.
