This book will not answer the deep questions, but it is a quaint little treasure that will do you no harm. Give it a go! I can empathise with Mitch Albom - I am now the age he was when he wrote the book, and I am asking myself many of the same questions, but the book didn't really give me nay answers. Still, I am glad I have read it.
"Less known than his masterpiece Of Human Bondage, this 1925 Somerset Maugham novel rips at your emotions with its portrayal of an adulterous wife. When the bacteriologist husband of Kitty Fane learns of her infidelity, he forces her to accompany him into the festering center of a Chinese cholera epidemic. She suffers another jolt when he dies, leaving her bereft and alone. Fane's difficult passage transforms this unlikely heroine into a character demanding our sympathy."
