I'm really not sure if these books work for me. The story keeps flipping back and forth between Pete's relationship with Rina and a murder investigation and it really isn't a great fit. The first book worked because it was the genesis of the relationship and they met through a crime, but I'm not convinced the parallel structure will hold up well through future books and this was a prime example.
