The book starts with Mercy and her mate getting married, and commencing on a honeymoon trip along the Columbia River Gorge that separates Washington and Oregon. But of course, they find the unexpected in the river. As they face the danger that lurks there, they develop friendships with new allies - human and supernatural and sometimes both - and a kind of magic being mostly new to the series. After reading the first book in the series, I remember thinking that I was excited to learn more about what it means to be a walker and where her coyote shape-shifting came from. Happily, in book 6, we finally get some of that background. Although not as prevalent as in some of the other books in the series, I was reminded how much I enjoy the wolf-and-coyote-keen senses (the ability to smell fear, truth, magic, fae, etc. is perhaps my favorite) and animal emotion (mine! mine! mine!) our main characters have.
Life was great for Damien until he caught Crystal in bed with a man from USC's football team. When Damien, caught Crystal in bed with another man . He vouched to never fall in love again.After the fall out with Crystal Damien declines his baseball schlarship . He then decides to attend the University of Miami. Damien's baseball career didn't go as planned at The University of Miami, due to an injury.Luckily for Damien his high school baseball coach, Coach Frazier had a few contacts and had managed to get Damien an opportunity to try out with th Atlanta Braves baseball team. But: before Damien relocates to Atlanta he has to learn the " starting five concept" which, is a concept that men use to determine the status of their lady friends in regards to their personal relationship with them. Mookie teaches Damien the starting five concept, and Damien never looks back. Once Damien gets to Atlanta he doesnt waste anytime getting his " Starting five" Damien enjoys his time with his " starting five" All of the women are unique in their own little way. He has Nicole, who is unhappily married, and who is madly in in love with Damien. Damien keeps Nicoleon the roster of his " starting five" because she is able to keep the sufficient revenue coming in from his full time job of hustling women's clothing. Then there is Katrina, who is a high profile lawyer, who is single, and only wants Damien as her boy toy. Damien keeps Katrina on his roster because; she spends a lot of money on his goods. Plus she has numerous of connections that Damien can use.Then there is Diamond who is that "dime piece" she is just perfect. Then there is Crystal, who broke his heart in the beginning. She relocates to Atlanta and wants to rekindle her love for Damien. Then there is Tameka, who is Diamond's friendthat is scandalous in more ways than one. After all of the run ins with women Damien gets overwhelm and has to decide if he wants to try love or continu being a Ladies' man. One of the books majot strengths is that it is comically impact. By the end of the third chapter I could sense the humor that the book offered from the male perspective on dating. This is where we are introduced to the "starting five" concept. from his friend Mookie. It was the comical friendship between Damien and Mookie as they discussed women that pulled me into this novel. Another strength of this book is that it is engaging and relevant to today's time. If you are looking for a nice book that will hold your interest, and make you laugh. I suggest you read Ladies' Man. There are a few twist and turns that will shock you but; they just add to the excitement of the novel.
