This book was recommended to me by two people who said, if you only read one book about baseball, this is the one. It immediately changed the way I read articles on players and how I view those who cover the team. I also loved gaining a better sense of baseball history.

Another amazing read. If you like paranormal young adult you're going to love this one!

I learned to have a bit more fun from this goodread. Both because the author and the characters seem to be having so damn much of it. From one of the opening scenes where our hero goes to great lengths to prove insanity (just to get the dole) and pulls stunts through windows of out-of-town roadhouses dressed in bizarre clothing, it's all part of his day... And the way Pynchon talks about and observes television in this book is chilling, if something so funny can be chilling. Brock Vond is a disgusting and evil, well, evil guy, and represents a distilled stereotype who's developed some other sorts of psycho mould in the process. Like Agent Smith from the Matrix but very warped and working for evil well and truly. It's the book I've most bought and given to friends. About 6 last time I counted. First Thomas Pynchon read for me and really a great Tom Robbins-esque tale which is perhaps sharper than he. Read Pynchon.
