I really can't say enough about this book. Even at over 600 pages, I devoured this in about 3 days on my trip to Europe a few summers ago. There were a few pages that I almost couldn't read because I'm too squeamish and one of the side stories had gruesome moments....gruesome to the point that if I hadn't already been so invested in the book, I may have stopped reading it for good. Despite that, I loved this book. It is sort of a dizzying tale that certainly warrants a second reading (or a third, or a fourth...)
This book was a powerful and interesting young adult novel about how our actions and interactions can be exclusive, rejecting, and even mean. When that happens bad events ensue. Way more than a book about suicide, it is about the webs that we all weave. This book reminded me A LOT of the movie, "Crash", where all the story lines are interwoven and culminate in tragedy. The lesson learned is that when we pay more attention to people, their feelings and their reactions we can thwart hellish results. I would highly recommend this book to young adults and adults. It has been on the bestseller list for weeks and weeks due to "word of mouth" marketing. Congratulations Jay!
