This is a great book. The reader follows Janie, the main character, as she endures several hardships and learns about life and fulfillment. I also love the way Hurston favorably and accurately portrays the Black community of that time, shedding light on how far we've come and some mindsets that we still maintain.
Never, never, read Joan Didion when you are depressed.
