As a practicing vegan, I was interested in this book that is directed at "savvy girls who want to stop eating crap and start looking fabulous!" I assumed that the authors were riding on the chick-lit bandwagon and I assumed right. Although the book contains pertinent info on the negative effects of dairy and meat to one's diet, most of the research comes from websites (not a good sign) and the authors are more concerns with weight-loss than health (although they claim that "you need to get healthy of you want to get skinny. Healthy = skinny"). Having had several people ask me about veganism as a weight-loss option, this tactic for a book is not shocking to me, but there are so many better books out there for those who are seriously thinking about vegetarianism or veganism as a lifestyle diet rather than choosing it as a fad diet.
