Very well written, like all Lippman's books, but I just wasn't sucked in, and I can't pinpoint why. Maybe I was expecting more shocking revelations along the way, rather than at the very end? (And they weren't very shocking at all.) By far the most real and interesting character was Teena, the alcoholic former homicide cop, but she was only in a few chapters. I'd love to read a whole book with her at the center. I'd love to see a movie about her, preferably starring Melissa Leo.
I loved listening to this and I'm assuming it's funnier having it read to you by Stephen Colbert that trying to hear his voice as you're reading. As expected, there's hilarious one-liners and you laugh out loud. Some of the "guest readers" were lame, but overall it was a funny quick read...er...listen.
