Another great read, beware, it is part one of three.
TETHERED” a novel by Amy MacKinnon is a gripping story about the Undertaking of sudden death, and what the collection and disposition of a body can uncover about the life of a person … and the damage done to and by that person. It is a story that uncovers the consequences of leaving acts of physical, psychological, and sexual abuse of children in the hands of God. It suggests that nothing can be done--that which happens is fated by a God who does not care about life on earth. And despite the best efforts, and variant methods, of well intentioned persons there is no such thing as “case closed … the scars are always there.” The author suggests relief and release come only in death. I read this novel in one sitting. I wanted a happy ending – but knew not to get my hopes up. “Tethered” is well written and well researched. Four stars. As an atheist - existential novels are of interest to me. As a child advocate - novels about the effects of child abuse and neglect are of interest to me. As a curious person - novels about professions i am not familiar with, in this case--Undertaking, are of interest to me. This is a good one.
