Top notch writing by Peter Milligan and appropriately dark and moody artwork.
took me a year. very vivid.
Ruth Rendell is one of my favorite writers and the books in her Barbara Vine genre are generally truly compelling; this one, not so much.
At times a difficult read due to the narrator's unflinching portrayal of the daily trauma he endures, it's nonetheless a fascinating story of an autistic boy's life unraveling when he discovers a disturbing secret. The writing style is very straightforward and almost reads like a young-adult novel, though the narrator's lack of emotion (indeed, he cannot feel any) may leave some readers cold. In any case it's great to read a story from such a unique viewpoint.
