Inspiring!
Superb historical novel set in the 13th century (I don't remember exactly) during the construction of the Santa Maria del mar cathedral currently in the neighbourhood of La Ribera in Barcelona. Many compare the book to Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth (which I have on the shelf, but nor read yet). It is simply well written, full of historical detail. One criticism is perhaps the "catalan pride" content, which at times is a little too explicit. Nevertheless, the novel IS set in Catalunya and it does shed some light on aspects of Catalan culture of which I was not yet aware.
