I'm going to table this for a bit...
I've loved reading Clarke since I was in junior high. My response to his books is often the same. I'm left with as many questions as answers, but I love that he leaves me having debates with myself. In this case I debate as to whether a utopian existence is really something I would long for. And maybe evolution isn't all its cracked up to be. I have this conversation with myself because I am so tied to how I understand life and the world around me. I am so deeply tied to it which is why I'd make a poor Buddhist. So get ready to think about what utopia means to you, what larger forces might be at work, and how limited our human understanding of creation can be.
