No argument that it's a fascinating story and a worthy cause, and I did enjoy the book for that, but the writing left a lot to be desired. It wasn't just the laughably bad metaphors and over the top description that bothered me. This is an (admittedly not-very-objective) work of non-fiction that takes so many liberties with who said what and what happened when that I ended up questioning how much of it was *really* true.
Stereotypical Latina's and their drama. Not impressed but I really try and support Latina/o writers so I gave it a shot. I liked the way the girls supported each other through their personal "crisis" but that was really about it.
