This novel took me a while to get into; I was easily distracted while reading the first half. The book seemed to lack the "laugh out loud" humor that was advertised. Eventually there were some shining moments that shined brightly. This is a book about a sarcastic professor who, as the product of two other academics, knows everything except what is going on in his own life. His only joy in life is being a jerk and spouting off comments to belittle his companion in the conversation, the more witnesses the better.
