I love historical fiction novels and I love Ken Follett, so this was bound to be a big hit with me. Add a little star-crossed romance into the mix, and this was a riveting, satisfying and illuminating read!
Oh my god, this book was so effing boring!!! 400 pages and nothing happened until the final 60 and even that was boring. And it got rave reviews and I know some deluded member of the Alex Award committee is going to give this an Alex Award as one of the best adult books for teens because the two main stories follow Ava, a 13 year old girl, and her brother Kiwi. Seriously, seriously boring!!!
