"The Art of Fielding" is an amazing heart opening read about baseball, friends, the human spirit, love, and Melville. Harbach caught me off guard with how emotionally rich and ranging his book is. He is able to capture so much of struggles, challenges, and how we go about overcoming, without putting it in the form of a sentimental pat you on the shoulder narrative. I was transfixed by this book, it gave me the good book glow when I was done reading it. It's all I love about Literature.
Can't really give a rating as I didn't get much past 100 pages. Started well but was overly descriptive which just lost my attention and found I'd drifted off elsewhere and after reading several pages realised I'd not taken any of it in. I did want to know what had happened to Katie and the baby but just not enough to continue reading.
