When I finally went to Amsterdam, the Red Light district was much different than I'd imagined, from what I read in this book. My least favorite of the three John Irving's that I've read- mostly because I needed one more for my term paper and I couldn't really get into the story as much. But very stylistically Irving.
Very disapointing. I don't really care for the between the numbers Stephanie Plum books. This one was even worse than the rest. The ending seemed really abrupt.
So interesting - detailed story about the dust storms in the Great Plains during and after the Depression. The author interviews people who stayed there (and did not move out west), and talks a lot about the history of settlement and environmental changes which contributed to the storms.
