such a beautiful, melodramatic book about the relationship between fathers and sons. in a dramatization of the story of cain and abel, no topic is taboo -- lust, infidelity, murder, sibling rivalry, greed. there are a few slow chapters, but for the most part, the novel reads quickly, perhaps because the characters' (in)ability to choose between good and evil are so relatable and realistic.
