beautiful story:D i didn't really like meghan, she was ok, but a little predictable. and i had a little problem with ash's age. meghan never even wonders about it. ok he's a hot fairy, he looks 18 but isn't he a bit too old for a sixteen year old? i hope they will learn more about each other in the next book and not just like each other for their pretty eyes/way they dance/battle etc i really liked the story though, the fairies, the kingdoms, all the places in fairyland. Also the characters show a lot of potential and im sure there are many good stories to come. oh and i really loved ethan, he's so cute!

Made me a little nostalgic for home in a way. Reminds me of the botanicas in East LA. Though I have found 2 botanicas here in Brooklyn, one in Greenwood Heights and one in Park Slope, oddly enough. It makes me wonder about the blurring of lines between faith and medicine, and how classifies one from the other, if that's even possible.

Many students loved this book, so I had high expectations for it. While the fact that it is a true story makes it a more powerful read, the story itself wasn't that captivating for me. I expected there to be more about the narrator dealing with his depression, but it was more about dealing with his physical problems and avoiding the mental. While that in itself was insightful, it just didn't make for an amazing read for me. I believe that it wasn't so much this book that I didn't like, but this type of book. I can definitely see how teens who are dealing this depression themselves or through their friends and family would be attracted to this book. Even though the narrator wrote the book years later, I did get a strong sense of him as a teen and his teen friends. (Last book I read before Natalie was born)
