What can I say? This book is amazing. I recently read finished the first and second of the Study series and absolutely fell in love with it; the characters, the settings, the plot, action and romance. I had my doubts with this series and refused to pick it up if not for a friend's strong recommendation when i finally caved in due to curiosity. I started and I COULD NOT put it down, and lucky for me that I bought the second book as well so I could continue on undisturbed. I'm really upset at myself for not picking it up earlier so i owe my friend one ;) Poison Study promises so much in that one book. The main character and heroine, Yelena, is such a strong and amazing spirit I fell in love with her in an instant and the adventures she goes on are the best. Stubborn, determined and strong-willed, she quickly grew on me and is now one of my favourite characters. Now for the male hero ;D Valek. Swoon-worthy and mysterious, and get this, a spy and assassin, all wrapped up in one hot package!! *sigh* what's not to love? The characters in the background also play such important parts and Snyder manages to even out the play-field, not dumping the credit all at once on only Yelena and I love that. This book left me wanting more and I quickly ate up the second book eagerly. Even though the Magic Study held a completely different setting and a whole new set of characters, I still managed to feel as if it were both a new beginning and also a continued journey for Yelena. Valek's and Yelena's romance, though spaced out at times, was still fiery and never lacked passion. I love how Valek believes in Yelena and knows her so well that she can take care of herself without needing his help at all, and the fact that he balances her perfectly just completes it all. My other two favourite characters are definitely the power twins, love them to bits and their comic relief and ridiculous banterings remind me of an old couple :D The twists in both books left me open-mouthed stunned and amazed at Snyder's ability to twist and twine the story with such grace and ease. I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on the third book, Fire Study, and see what else awaits Yelena and her loved ones.
Not as good as White Teeth for me, but she definitely still hits the nail on the head as far as describing people.....
OMG!!!! This was more than amazing! I totally loved the whole book. Cassandra Clare clearly demonstrates what true talent is and she never disappoints.
