Very solid arguments as to why God, as a general concept, is unnecessary. People often overlook the fact that he admits this is not a 100% answer, which I find makes it even more worth reading. It also deals with the fact there is a difference between "faith" and "religion", without saying there is a difference.
i'm not a big fan of hugely-popular books. do not talk to me about mitch albom, jodi picoult, or dean koontz, etc. or dan brown. but i read this before it became hugely popular, so it was probably good that i didn't have any preconceived notions about it or anyone telling me it was "SO GOOD YOU HAVE TO READ IT!", because i would have rolled my eyes and refused. but the kite runner is absolutely amazing. beautiful, sad, haunting, emotional. i got completely sucked into the story. and of course while reading the ending i was sobbing, on a crowded airplane coming home from paris, no less.
