So before I tell you why I love this book so much, let me tell you one thing that proves how much I love this book: I bought a BBC edition off of Amazon.uk because it had different text and an extra prologue (You can see a picture of the book below). Yeah, that kind of love. Neverwhere isn't Neil Gaiman's first novel (well, you could say it's his first solo novel since the other novel that he had written, Good Omens, was with the wonderful Terry Pratchett) nor is it his first foray into fiction (Gaiman is the author of such fantastic and groundbreaking comics like Sandman, Black Orchid, Death, and The Books of Magic) but it has that first... feel to it. It's amazingly original, daring, exciting, thought-provoking, and all around beautiful – many of the characteristics that we find in an author's first book (you know, that baby they've been working on for years, loving it and helping it grow). Neverwhere is one of the best fantasy novels you could ever read with two of the most fantastic villians that are stalking the shelves of modern fiction. It has all the magic of a great first book and so much more. Once you enter the world of Neil Gaiman, trust me, you're never coming back the same person.
