This "American classic" isn't exactly well-known anymore, but it's definitely one of the best juvenile fiction novels I've encountered. I'm editing a Japanese comic version of this book for work, so I'm simultaneously reading the original, and I love it. In the style of nineteenth century "girl lit," it's remarkably conflict-free and primarily comedic.
WOW. this is one of the best books I have ever read, definitely one of the best children books. It was so creative, well written, and it had such a gratifying ending. It made me feel really emotional. This book was inspired by the jungle book (hence the name) and the child is raised by ghosts and spooky creatures instead of animals until he is old enough to protect himself. I don't want to write too much to spoil the plot, but I recommend this to everyone, whether you are a child or not. Its very sophisticated and just a great story, extremely well written. Now officially one of my feel good favorite stories!!!
Easy read plus I liked the historical references. I am also fond of mysteries, so this fit the bill. I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the rest of his books in this series.
