REVIEW OF AUDIOBOOK & REREAD= OF EBOOK; JULY 2013 Narrator: Sean Crisden I enjoyed the ebook (read August 2011) but had given it only 3 stars because it was (according to my bookshelves) in Present Tense. However, what PT there was, was negligible in this reread of the ebook and listening to the audio version, if there even was any! Five brilliant stars for both story and narrator. The Narrator: It's Sean Crisden. 'nuf said. The Story: Heartwarming and sucked me in right from the start. I vaguely remember the story from back when I first read it and at this reread, my grievances (noted in my review of the ebook) still stands. Somehow, though, with the audiobook, these were diminished enough for me to enjoy BOAtK much more than when I was only reading it. Enough to give it 5 stars compared to the ebook on its own, though this could be due to Sean Crisden:p If it weren't for the flashbacks and the repetitive metaphors, this would be a book I'd listen to again. I hope the sequel, Who We Are, won't have Present Tense, flashbacks and ocean metaphors.
Must have for anyone who is in entertainment. Donald Bogle is a film historian who gives you an inside look at the stereotypes of African Americans in film from Birth of a Nation until the present. This is a MUST have!!! I am always referring and quoting this book!
