This is one of my all-time favourite novels. The book is very well written and thought provoking. The twist towards the end of the novel affected me more than any other book ever has. Picoult's best book by far.
I could only read 5-10 pages at a time because each time I was overcome by a blank, unshaking terror that someone I loved would die soon and that I would be forced to experience grief. Didion at once explores the most general and the most detailed of topics. I preferred when she stays general, rather than elaborating on the people and places she'd experienced, but Didion knows that a life consists of emotions, tiny moments, and all the things that connect them. How I read it: Many many subways rides culminating in a final breakthrough read in a coffehouse with a three dollar cappacino.
was not very good.... bdsm interesting (wax mostly) but the story itself was so-so.
