Roma tarihi ve antik edebiyat hayranları için okunmalıdır.
Guns, Germs, and Steel came so highly recommended that I almost feel self-conscious for not enjoying it more. I found the conclusions completely convincing; that was never the problem. His science also survived the rigor of my decade-plus, rusty, mostly-slept-through-class undergraduate degree, but the book failed to move me. I guess I just want more 'tainment in my edu-tainment. Here’s the deal; if you buy the premise that societies flourished because of sheer luck (they got a disproportionate amount of the world’s few viable crops and large mammals), then just skip the whole book. If you’re not convinced, keep turning pages until you realize that Europe’s ability to conquer other continents was just a fluke.
