"Brideshead Revisited" is a big old stately mansion of a book. Unlike his other more comic works this is crammed with compassion and love for his characters that touched me to the core. After reading this and "A Handful of Dust" Waugh now resides in that place in my heart reserved for my favorite authors of prose fiction.
