Amazing read. I first heard of this book when walking thru Williamsburg with Rebecca, and she saw the "Metropolitan Floors" sign. She started to describe it to me, and I had to read it. It reads fast, I was done with it in a day, and could just as soon pick it up and read it again. I don't think it's the whole story that made an impression on me - rather it is the smaller quotes/paragraphs that come off so delicate and finely polished they could stand alone. For example, when him and Renee are riding in a car, and he mentions all the places he's always wanted to go - and how he would give them all up if the car ride lasts forever. Or, when after Renee dies, the offhanded remark about bridges freezing quicker than roads - and how is is because the bridge is standing there alone with nothing to warm it up. I wasn't into the music part of it as much, as I really wasn't into the whole Pavement/Nirvana/grunge/alternative bit, but it comes across as a good support to the story, never overbearing.
