One of my favorite Jane Green books with a funny fat heroine. She's easily relatable to most 20-something women. Excellent beach read.
Yet again her work draws me in without a care in the word making me not want to put the book down until the very last page is turned. Absolutely loved it!
The day has come -- I can now hold up my head in the world of books -- I've finally read this classic, and yes, I think it deserves all its acclaim. I'd like to re-read it, in fact.
This book was completly gorgeous. Sara Gruen uses the perfect amount of description, just enough to let you just float into the world she has created, but not overboard so you just roll your eyes and go "okay, I GET IT." I really wanted to read this before the movie came out, because, hey Rob Pattinson, need I say more? But I feel lazy if I know a movie is based on a book and I haven't read it. Well anyway, I was a little put off by the whole romance over a depression era circus. Really? A circus? Well then I actually picked up the book and breezed through the critics' blurbs and my interest was piqued. Now I'm a fan of chick-lit. I like a nice fluffy read with melodrama and a nice predictable romantic plot. But when I pick up a serious novel I want the romance to be a little...gritty. Not so pretty and wrapped up with a bow. This book totally delivered. I'm going to sound totally cheezy but it was a lovely meeting of soul mates that I just ate up. The other thing I love about this book was the way she handled the elderly character. She didn't write a old person parody. She made him a fully realized, rich, *real* character.
