I learned a great deal about the art world in Belle Epoque Paris. It was not such a glamorous life for the talented young artists who arrived in Paris from all over the world. It was a struggle. I loved the vivid descriptions of Paris, Bruges and other places the Riveras traveled. I felt like I was there and could taste the food. The writing is clear; the dialog so natural I felt like I was eavesdropping; short chapters appeal to me as well. I'd like to read more by this author because she makes me care what happens to the characters and I like the way Angeline deals with the challenges she faces. Though it covers difficult times, it does so with a thoughtful touch. Like the other reviewer, I think I will read this book again.
A psychological thriller. I often got annoyed with the un-named protagonist for being pathetic and easily walked over. But, then again, she is only 20 or so and I'm not sure I would have behaved too differently in a similar situation. A page turner towards the end.
