Murakami's just... great, as usual. From what I've read, his stories often tell two parallel tales that seem to have nothing to do with each other, but which then start rushing toward each other in an exciting and addictive story. As usual, I could hardly stop reading once I got 50ish pages in. Murakami's books make me feel like I'm not quite cool enough to be a philosophy person because I don't really understand what is going on, but I thoroughly enjoy them anyway.
Like THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY and THE LAST CHANCE SALOON, Keyes writes a multiple POV narrative, here. I'm not a particular fan of this formula in general, but somehow Keyes makes it work for her, usually giving a fair amount of pages to each protagonist, and nicely weaving them into each other's storylines to keep all the leads relevent. Inevitably, I choose a character I like more than the others and in this case, it's Ashling. If you like your chick lit to have more conflict than contrivance, I highly recommend a Keyes novel.
