This came highly recommended by a friend, but didn't quite do it for me. Short stories about inhabitants of a dying outback community, linked by the idea that one of them is writing them as a book for the world's last reader. The feminist morals were too predictably pointed, the male baddies too unrelievedly crass. Glum and, in the end, uninvolving. Glad I read it though.
Book #30 of 2009 I must say, I do enjoy coming to a series of books after they've all been written. There's none of that pesky waiting for the next book to be published and forgetting half of what happened in the prior books. I think that perhaps I like Shawn even better than his older brother Aiden, the male romantic lead in "Jewels of the Sun". I like the way he approached his romance with Brenna, though it was her idea to begin with, he made sure to take his time getting around to it, which was sweet and just heightened the experience for readers and characters, in my opinion. Also, his concern over his pregnant sister-in-law was very sweet as well.
this book inspired me to see a fortune teller in thailand. the guy sucked. but then, i found him on the side of a road predominantly frequented by tourists, which probably isn't where all the wise sages hang out.
