I liked this book largely because I am the middle sister of three girls. The oldest girl in the story was very much like my older sister, and the youngest girl was very much like my younger sister. But, while I had a couple of things in common with Bean, I am so grateful that she and I were not that much alike! Also, my mother had a mastectomy when I was about 12 so that part brought back a lot of memories. This one did hit very close to home.
