this is an original, amazing, 'will never forget it' book. Incredibly moving love story between Henry and Clare
The authors' use of extensive polling data from all over the world guarantees this book to be very reliable and useful for gauging what others around the world think of Americans and how their values compare with ours. But it is rather dry reading as a result.
This is still one of my all time favorite SK books! Scared the bejesus out of me and still does when I think about it!
** spoiler alert ** This book is rather dry and has almost no action. But the characters and their psychology/emotions more than make up for it. Julien Sorel in particular is a fascinating and highly-flawed fellow, who, throughout the novel, is conflicted between his own feelings and his ambition, and it's never quite clear, even by the end, what he really ends up deciding. A very thought-provoking read.
Not such a fan of the new cast of charaters. I prefer Anna, Sam, Cammie and Dee.
I really enjoyed this book.
