I like Bones - the TV show. Brennan is supposed to be a genius, and she comes off as one in the show. She doesn't in the book. In fact, Brennan in the book comes across as stupid. Why, you ask? Unfortunately in the book you get a running narrative of Brennan's thoughts. Thoughts such as this one: "The flaxen-haired maiden felt a tingle in her southern parts." Need I even write any more? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I hate the overuse of the word "democracy", and this book is kind of a democracy whore. Also, bad cover art, even for a textbook.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A book about being able to read minds is a hard thing to pull off, but Lori Brighton does a great job. There is lots of action and lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and turning the pages. I liked the mystery surrounding the main characters, so that you don't know if they are good or bad. As much as I hate sequels, I do look forward to reading the next book in this series.

great history of the irish 'gangster'--beginning at five points in lower manhattan and following the story through the 20th century-intimate knowledge of locations and characters. goodread:)
