İlkini çok beğendim. Bu, üstesinden gelmek için bir kabadaydı ve kahramanlar günü kurtarmak için çok az şey yaptı. Çoğunlukla bir sürü aptalca hata yap.

A pleasant enough read but, as only the third Alistair Maclean novel I've read, my least favourite of the three. There is plenty of mystery in the story since the characters' thoughts, even that of the protagonist, Harlow, are never written - only their actions - so we are left to guess at their intentions. But therein lies the problem. Empathy comes before sympathy. How can we care what happens if we are not sympathetic towards the characters, and how can we be sympathetic if we do not know what they are thinking? In this respect it is saved somewhat by the dialogue between Harlow and the love interest, Mary McAlpine. Their words to each other are almost the only insight into the true character of Harlow, and it is through their exchanges that one can develop a vested interest in the outcome of the story. I enjoyed The Way to Dusty Death, but I much preferred Caravan to Vaccares, I hope the rest of Maclean's novels are more like that one.

It has alcoholism, family, forgiveness, perseverance, faith, community, secrets, family issues, strength, rural living, fear of the preacher, fear of the town leader, family rejection, and tumultuous decisions and time. The main characters are heartwarming, tender, caring, have strong feelings of faith even through difficult times. The secondary characters help to carry the story along. There are many characters in this story. The story entwines families together, their lives, their failures, their strengths and their weakness. This is an intense, powerful story of love, faith, forgiveness, changes and moving forward from dark secrets of the past to a bright hopeful future and the power of prayer. It is about true love, freedom after forgiveness and the strength of perseverance. The author has entwined some facts of her own family with the story and developed an intense, powerful,a times heartbreaking story. You will laugh and cry with the characters. If you enjoy a deep family and community story with intense emotions you will enjoy this story. I really enjoyed getting a glimpse into the mind of one of my favorite writers and he had a lot of good things to say to aspiring writers about the years of work and encouragement needed as well as the urge most successful writers have to get things out of their head and on paper.

This book touches on many traditional aspects of yogic practice. If you want to know more about the cleansing rituals and fasting, this is a good book to accompany you on a path with an experienced teacher.
