Enjoyed this book very much! My brother-in-law and his family moved to remote, beautiful Molokai 5 years ago. When I learned there is a leper colony there, I became fascinated and wanted to learn more about it. The book is told through the eyes of a 6 year old girl who develops leprosy, is taken from her family, and then exiled to live in the colony with hundreds of others suffering from the disease. She has many adventures despite her illness, and this is a richly woven tale depiciting the resilience of the human spirit admidst great suffering. Although there are sad parts, this book is hopeful and enlightening. It started out a bit slow for me at first, but I really liked it and am glad I read it.
