Great book! This book was interesting because it told the story from 3 different perspectives.

"The Whisperers" is a highly unusual mystery/thrille, but will not be news to John Connolly fans. If you have not read John Connolly before you will find that he writes an excellent mystery, however, one must be willing to also accept a little of the occult, the macabre, and the supernatural in his works. The story starts off with the ransacking of the Iraq Museum. Many priceless and irreplaceable antiquities were taken, and curator Dr. Mufid Al-Daini has been charged with finding them and returning them to the museum. There is one particular item that is encased in a gold box that is of the upmost importance. The trail leads to Maine and Charlie Parker. Charlie is hired by the father of a soldier that did duty in Iraq and has committed suicide. Charlie finds out that he is one of several soldiers in the area that committed suicide and they were all a part of the same operational group. The problems becomes complicated when the surviving members of the group may be part of a smuggling operation between Maine and Canada. Charlie enlists the help of psychiatrist, Carrie Saunders, who was an Iraq verteran and was helping these ex-soldiers with their problems. It is difficult enough to deal with the everyday problems of life, but when Charlie is faced with the supernatural that is both powerful and evil, he brings in his friends, Angel and Louis, to help him. If you are familiar with John Connolly's past works you will know that Angel and Louis usuually play a large and exciting part of his stories. Unfortunately, they are but a small part of "The Whisperers". John Connolly is not for everyone, but if you enjoy mystery with the supernatuural you will enjoy this book.
