Filled with anecdotes from all parts of medicine and from both patient and doctor perspectives, this book explores a variety of topics. The book has a large scope with only brief glances into each aspect he is exploring. His book definitely stresses the importance of thinking in medicine (not just the use of algorithms) and how that thinking can go astray. He also explores how patients can help their doctors by asking the right questions. I enjoyed the application of this book to medical education (medical students should be taught how their own thinking can interfere with medicine)and the economy of medicine (little time with patients and the influence of drug reps) but would have enjoyed a little information on how these things can be changed in our current system. Overall a very enjoyable and interesting read.
