Istanbul Blues Set in Istanbul and beyond, the stories in Istanbul Blues are filed with Buket Uzuner’s remarkable sensitivity and psychological insight, taking us into the memories and imaginations of children ands adults, and exploring shared history, love, and atachment—to family, friends, lovers, and places. Uzuner’s characters share stories that are mythical, mysterious, coincidental, wity, and ful of wisdom. In the hands of an author who is a listener as much as a teler, no mater where they take place, these stories remind us of people we know, and ourselves. İstanbul Blues Buket Uzuner’in bazı öykülerinin yer aldığı İngilizce bir derlemedir. Kitabın ortak teması; anılar, ortak tarih, aile, arkadaşlık, sevgi, duyarlılık gibi değerlerdir.

I thought the elephant itself had little influence in the story, but ok. The book itself was a good reading, is actually easy to imagine how life at the circus was far from dreamy. Jacob is an interesting character; he is simple, well built and real. Marlena is actually pretty boring, she only takes some attitude when it comes to the horses and the horses' shows; a part of that she is that "Oh! I'm so delicate and useless" type. And, of course, the Old Jacob is actually the most charismatic and fantastic character of the book with his irreverence and funny thoughts, he's probably the major reason why I kept reading ‘till the end.
