I'm not really sure how I stumbled upon this series and I'm a little torn as to what I think about it. I like futuristic stories and I really enjoyed this read, but there are some things I just didn't like about it. The first couple of chapters started off a little slow, but it quickly picked up and I had a hard time putting it down after that. When the book ended I had to start on the sequel right away! The first two books are pretty clean and not racy at all. (the third book has some disturbing parts). The only things I didn't like about this first book is that the author uses some vulgar words throughout the story. They aren't cuss words (although the "H" word is used once)they're just words I don't care to hear. Also, it's a futuristic story so they refer to our day as the rustic period and we're known as the "rusties" (I guess because we use a lot of metal?) Anyway, the characters make several references to our day and allude to us as crazy,stupid, and as destroyers of the environment. At least that's what their government has told them. I'm still trying to figure out if this is just the author putting his own political views into the story or if he's trying to make the point that their government isn't telling them the complete truth about what really happened to the "rusties" and why they died off.And that probably makes no sense whatsoever to those who haven't yet read the book:) So that's why I'm torn. I liked the plot and I couldn't put the book down, but vulgar words kinda ruin it for me. And to be honest I think I was ok with this series until the third book when more profanity began to appear.
