Mavros Kolimpos, Yunanistan
This was a very interesting and kinda jumbled book to read. It was kind of like takikng someones "personal journey" diary and publishing it. I do respect the author though for taking this journey publicly. I have had a few friends in my life commit suicide....one in paticular that was pretty close to me, and I never saw it coming. For me this book caused me to question my own personal relationships and ask myself if I am always at least trying my darndest to REALLY listen to what the other person is saying. Sometimes it's the between the lines stuff that our gut tells us is there and we CHOOSE to ignore that can really make all the difference. This book also caused me to consider what must be done to re-cover from the loss of a parent at an early age. My dad died when I was 14, and I never really considered if that might have any implications on my adult life. Reading this book caused me to want to examine that deeper. The author also dispells a lot of commonly held myths about suicide.....like the idea that all suicides are a result of depression. There is a lot of literary references in here as well as case study references. I would definetly recommend this book to others, I would just warn them that it's not such a black and white book....its got quite a mix of grey, and if you can wade through that, it's worth the read.
