I really enjoyed this book. Ann Aguirre kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what happened next. She made the ending so intense, I felt like biting my nails. The world-building was amazing, the idea and originality enjoyable. As a tortured hero, March is wonderful. I absolutely loved how into Sirantha he was. He went beyond most romances I read, which made me wonder if there would be people who complain about that. I don't care. I loved him. And Sirantha was very strong, but not so strong that she didn't need him. Excellence. Aside from the fact that this book has a ton of tags on Amazon stating it's a romance, and for all intents and purposes, it is a sci-fi romance, I'm not sure it's billed officially as a romance. It seems like authors who do series tend to make the first book like a romance and then go on to just have sci-fi fiction or urban fantasy and such. I don't like that. So while I enjoyed this book, I get the feeling that the rest of the series won't exactly be romance but rather sci-fi fiction with less emphasis on the relationship of March and Sirantha. I won't invest in those books for that reason. I'm not sure if the authors do this trick on purpose to capture more readers or not, but it's common. Anyway, loved the first book and highly recommend it.
