Stranger in a Strange Land (the uncut edition) is one my brother's all-time favorite sci-fi books, and he's been telling me to read it for some time. I enjoyed the book, though it wasn't at all what I expected it to be. I can appreciate it for being well ahead of its time in so many regards, and provocative even, but at the end of the day I had a hard time sitting down and reading it for long periods of time. Perhaps because there was a lot to digest, I'd have to come back to it. But as a result it took me a long time to get through it. Not necessarily a bad thing (sometimes the best books take time), but I wouldn't pack it in your bag for a vacation weekend. Oh, and there was some irony for me because I read it while I'm living in Austria, and feeling a bit like a stranger myself.

This is a pretty good book. It was a step above OK, but not awesome. Good things about this book: No graphic description of horrible things The characters weren't mean Bad things I almost stopped reading it because in the beginning I thought it was really boring
