Another good one from Jodi Picoult - she likes to pick controversial topics to structure her plots around. I liked the mix of mystical/spiritual and "real life" in this one. I thought the characters where interesting.

This is one of my top 5 favorite books. Theodicy, holiness, human freedom, human existence -- Dostoyevsky explores them all and much more in this brilliant book. The Grand Inquisitor alone should be read by every thinking person at least once (if not more) in their lifetime. I like this translation in particular, because much of the dark humor is captured by the translators in a way that isn't in other translations I've read.

It's been more than 20 years since I read this book. It sits with a tattered cover, pages falling from the spine, on the bookshelf with other beloved books. I recall that when I read it all those years ago I knew that one day I would go back to this book and visit it again. I think it's time.
